Boulder River

This is the place where I am most wanted
Where everything that I am comes from.
I brought you here so that you might notice
The light in my eyes like the afternoon sun.
Down by the water we'll talk about fishing
And how all of our dreams are the same
Deep in the valley where the Boulder River
Moves through the mountains like the blood through my veins.

And we'll walk along the bank with each other
In the morning when the fish start to rise.
Would you like to stay here with me forever?
Can you see that the love is strong in my eyes?
It's strong as the mountains high above us
High as the clouds in the sky
Deep as the valley where the Boulder River
Moves through the mountains and rolls on by.

Now I sit and listen to the river talking
It's telling me stories that I've grown to love so well.
But there's things in my life that I am regretting
And now that you're gone things I'd love to tell.
But if you should ever change your direction
You know that I'll never be far
I'll be deep in the valley where the Boulder River
Cuts through the mountains like a knife through my heart.

Every spring I watch the seeds in the air
From the cottonwood trees on the banks of the river.
Some find their way to a home in the ground
But some never seem to find anywhere.
Those in the earth may they never stop growing
And those in the air may they fly free
I'll be deep in the valley where the Boulder River is
Waiting for you to fly back to me.
